CfP: Facet-Level Personality Measurement (Article Collection)
Article Collection Editor: Michael Bosnjak (Department for Psychological Research Methods, Trier University, Germany; Center for Social Informatics, Faculty of Social Science, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia)
Facet-level measurement of personality is becoming increasingly popular, as research demonstrates that models using narrow facets often have greater predictive power compared to models based on broad, trait-level factors alone. This special collection aims to publish novel, high-quality research on facet-level personality instruments in any language. This includes the development of new instruments as well as adaptations and translations of existing ones, such as the Facet-level Multidimensional Assessment of Personality (Facet MAP).
We welcome submissions focusing on the reliability and construct validity of existing facet-level instruments, as well as studies demonstrating their predictive validity in various contexts. In line with the need for efficient data collection, we particularly encourage the submission of short instruments that are suitable for large-scale assessments.
Submission Instructions
There is a two-stage submission process. Initially, interested authors are requested to submit extended abstracts of their proposed papers. Authors of the selected abstracts will then be invited to submit full papers. All papers will undergo blind peer review.
Abstracts of up to 250 words should be submitted by email to bosnjak@uni-trier.de no later than June 30, 2026, indicating 'Facet-Level Personality Measurement' as the category on the abstract page. Make sure that the proposed paper conforms to one of the MISS article types. For those who have been encouraged to submit a full paper (mid July), the final manuscript will be due by October 30, 2026. Before submitting your manuscript through the journal's submission system, please carefully review the submission guidelines for Measurement Instruments for the Social Sciences. Additionally, please indicate in your cover letter and upon submission that you would like your manuscript to be considered as part of the paper collection on the ‘Facet-Level Personality Measurement’.
All submissions will undergo rigorous peer review, and accepted articles will be published within the journal as part of the collection. MISS supports open science standards and strongly encourages authors to supplement their submissions with statistical analysis code (e.g., R code, Mplus code, Stata code). To make your test instruments available to the scientific community, you are encouraged to publish all test-related files in the Open Test Archive or ZIS.
Important note: By submitting an abstract, you agree to potentially be invited to review other submissions for this collection.
If you are unsure of the suitability of your topic or have questions regarding a submission, please get in touch with the editor responsible for this collection (bosnjak@uni-trier.de).
